Changing the CSS color codes_background help?
-
Hi,
Im sure this is very easy to a pro, which I am not.
I currently have the twentyten theme. The background color is editable in dashboard (which I made black) but I want to change the sub background — I don’t know what it is called so I don’t know how to search for help for this! The white background behind my text/images to a dark grey. All I want to do is change the white to grey but I can’t figure out how.
I tried the CSS preview before upgrade, to simply change the css code from white to grey, but it stayed the same, so I clearly am doing something wrong.
:(
Can anyone tell me how to change the color codes only? I will buy the CSS upgrade if needed, but I don’t really need to learn css for any other reason than this. Also, would like to change the “link” and side bar text color, if its not too hard.
Can anyone please tell me how to do this or where to go for help????PLEASE!!!!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That white area is #wrapper. I changed it to a light grey. You can edit the hex color code as you desire.
#wrapper { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #DDDDDD; }If you are going to be messing with CSS, I suggest getting the Firebug add-on for Firefox and it will make it very simple to identify what in the CSS controls what in the markup (XHTML). Also, take some time to see how the markup and the CSS relate to one another. This is the key to working with CSS.

It is ironic that I just started to set up my blog today, chose the same theme as Gretchen, wanted to make the same color change as she did and this question is answered today. Thanks!
I am assuming the hex color code for light grey is #DDDDD; Is there some place to view different shades of grey with their corresponding hex colors?

Those pesky coincidences. They always seem to happen just at the right time, don’t they? :-)
Yes, that is right on the #DDDDDD. FFFFFF is white, EEEEEE is a very light grey, DDDDDD is a little darker, etc.
Going from the other end, 000000 is black, 111111 is a dark charcoal grey, 222222 is a little lighter, etc.

You can google hex color code chart and find many where you can see the different colors and their hex values.
