Changing the current homepage to a custom page – with recent posts still

    Blog Link: thefriskytimes.wordpress.com
I don’t like the layout for the homepage, there is an awkward gap that I can’t seem to get rid of. It only shows up on the default “Homepage”.

I was wondering if I could create a new Page, go Settings > Reading > and change it to the newly created page.

Then on the custom pages HTML section, simply link to my RSS feed so it will show all recent posts.

I just don’t know what HTML I would use to display the RSS feed on a page.

Alternative: If anyone knows how to remove the awkward space that would be better. Theme is Structure. Awkward space I’m referring to is labeled “Homepage Top Right” on the widgets page.

    Thanks for any responses.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Before you proceed any further please read how the theme is coded to operate > Introduction to Structure See also > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/structure

Note that we cannot edit themes or templates on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. See: custom design upgrade

That’s not possible on WordPress.com free hosted blogs. No tools for posting auto-generated content are provided here. Read: Types of blogs allowed and not allowed

Automated blogs: Blogs that are generated by computers, including randomly generated blogs, blogs that re-publish press releases, marketing material, search engine results, link dumps or any other mass-produced content.

Posts and pages are completely different and the setting you indicate is only for Posts – not Pages.

Would I be able to do it if I purchased the custom design upgrade?

And I’m purchasing hosting through WordPress.com right now, so it would no longer be a free hosted blog.

The custom design upgrade allows only for changes to appearance. It does not provide you with the ability to create auto-generated posts or pages from data sucked in from RSS feeds. The reason why this cannot be done here at WordPress.co that using RSS feeds to autogenerate posts and pages is the preferred tool of content thieving sploggers.

You cannot be purchasing hosting from WordPress.com unless your blog has been approved for VIP hosting.

The custom design upgrade would allow changes to the main page of your site. The “space” is one of the main features of the theme you have chosen, but it can be hidden with CSS.
