Hi,
I’d like to change the name of my website : swannfreslon.com for another one, like for example swann.com 9didn’t buy the new one yet).
And at the same time, using the swannfreslon.com for another WordPress website with a different content.
I dont find any info on how to process on the forums. Can you help me, please?
Thank you.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there!
If you start another WordPress.com site, I can transfer swannfreslon.com to it.
Then, you’ll be free to register a new domain name for you original WordPress.com site.
Both these sites should be registered under the same WordPress.com user account (swannfreslon).
For instructions on how to do that:

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Hello Robyn,
Thank you for your quick reply.
Here is the new blog domain name:
https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/So if I correctly understood, you’ll be able to transfer the content and the template of swannfreslon.com to https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/ .
Once it’s done, then I can put another content on swannfreslon.com
Is that right?Thank you again!

Swann,
The content and theme for swannfreslon.wordpress.com will remain where it is. Only the custom domain name with change.
The content remains with the WordPress.com site. The custom domain name is simply the name by which your users will view the site.
It’s like two people changing name tags before a cocktail party. They still look the same, talk the same, and act the same as they did before they changed IDs. However, party-goers who approach them will identify them by the name displayed on their tags.
I hope my metaphor makes sense :)
Here is an infographic that explains how domains and websites work together:
catswithmustaches.orgIf your new blog is blablaterie.wordpress.com and you haven’t yet added content, it STILL won’t have any content when swannfreslon.com is moved to it.
Let me know if that makes sense to you, and how you’d like me to proceed.
Thanks so much!

Hi Robyn,
Your metaphor makes totally sense. :)
I understood in your first email that you’ll make the transfer of content from swannfreslon.com to https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/
If it’s true, then please proceed, I’m totally fine with that.
If I didn’t understand correctly, can you tell me what I’m suppose to do, please?
Sorry for all the back and forth.Thank you very much,

Hey Swann!
It’s like two people changing name tags before a cocktail party. They still look the same, talk the same, and act the same as they did before they changed IDs. However, party-goers who approach them will identify them by the name displayed on their tags.
Not quite :)
No content moves. If I move the domain name, swannfreslon.com, to blablaterie.wordpress.com, your new site will have the name swannfreslon.com.
Your site, swannfreslon.wordpress.com, which currently has the domain name, swannfreslon.com, will still contain all the content. However, once the domain is moved, it will go back to it’s WordPress.com domain name, swannfreslon.wordpress.com. Until you register a new domain name (like, swann.com, as you mentioned), the site will be visible online only by swannfreslon.wordpress.com.
Are you still ok with me moving the domain to your new site, know that when visitors go to swannfreslon.com, they will view this:
https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/Let me know! Thanks again!

Hey Robyn,
What I understand you propose is some kind of redirection from swannfreslon.com. But here is what I want:
– I want to move the content (all the articles) from swannfreslon.com to https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/
– The content from swannfreslon.com will only be accessible at https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/
– In the meantime, I want to keep the domain name swannfreslon.com because I want to put a totally new content on it.So in conclusion, it’s like having 2 different websites. One with the old content of swannfreslon.com and the url https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/ and one with a new content with the url swannfreslon.com
Is it possible?
I hope my explanations are better. :)
Thank you,

Swann,
There’s still some confusion about the definition of websites/domain/content. I hope i can clear it up with the following…
– I want to move the content (all the articles) from swannfreslon.com to https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/
– The content from swannfreslon.com will only be accessible at https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/Just a little clarity: swannfreslon.com is a NAME for your site. That is what a custom domain is…a name. It isn’t a website. It is the name/address by which your site, http://swannfreslon.wordpress.com/ is accessed online.
You keep mentioning the content at swannfreslon.com. The content that you see when you type swannfreslon.com into your address bar is actually housed at swannfreslon.wordpress.com/.
If you want to move all your content to https://blablaterie.wordpress.com/, you can export it from http://swannfreslon.wordpress.com/, and import it into your new site.
Here are instructions:
Export:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/Import:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/Given what you’ve explained, you should move the content from swannfreslon.wordpress.com to blablaterie.wordpress.com.
Then, your domain swannfreslon.com will still be connected to your site, swannfreslon.wordpress.com. You can then empty this WordPress.com site of all content and start fresh.
Let me know if it sounds like we’re on the same page. Thank you again!
