changing the domain name of my site to one I already own
-
When I signed up at Hostgator I started a wordpress site with my domain name, next40yearsbest40years.com. Then when i tried to sign back in to work on my site I guess I accidentally started a new one, next40yearsbest40years.wordpress.com. I thought that the wordpress was added because I opted out for the free plan and that was just the way it was done. I was planning to get the site the way I wanted it then I could upgrade and lose the .wordpress. I never said I was knowledgeable about this stuff. Anyways, now that I have my site next40yearsbest40years.wordpress.com with all of the work done on it, is it possible to just change the site domain to next40yearsbest40years.com painlessly and cost free? Thanks for your help.

You will need to set up Domain Mapping to use your next40yearsbest40years.com domain with your WordPress.com site:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Domain Mapping is included with all of the WordPress.com Plans:
