Changing the email address of my blog

I did not receive a confirmation email? I received an email that says to ignore and delete it if I requested the change. In fact I did, but the change will not go through. The first time I deleted the email like it said and waited 24 hours. Nothing happened. I canceled the request and tried again with the same result. The second time, I made sure to change the email under settings first before changing it under users in the dashboard. I get the same email over and over again that has no way to confirm the change. What should I do?

  • Hi there – What email should it be? The email will appear as redacted in the public forums, but I’ll be able to see it. Did you go to your NEW email account and click the confirmation button in an email that was sent to that account?

I don’t get it. I already have an email address. What’s the point of making a second one? I assumed the confirmation email would go to the email address I have for the purpose of editing the name attached to it. All I want to do is subtract 3 letters and add 2 new ones.

Current address; (email visible only to moderators and staff)

I want to edit it to; (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Hi there – The email address has to be a valid email address that you can use. Do you have the email address (email visible only to moderators and staff) ? If so, the confirmation email of the change should go to that email address. Then, you click on a link in that confirmation email, and the change is confirmed.

The confirmation step is just to make sure that you actually have access to the email that you’re trying to change to — in case you accidentally enter a typo or something.

    Does this clear things up?

It still seems entirely illogical to me that I can’t just edit the name of the email address I’m already using. But sure, if I need to create a second address just to change the name (while everything else remains exactly the same), I will do just that. As long as I can get the name I want, I will be satisfied.

  • Hi there – You can’t edit it to an email address that you don’t own, and you wouldn’t want to — if you did that, all of your notifications would be going to an email address where you’d never see them. :)

This puzzles me, but I won’t dwell on it for long. I’ve changed my email successfully. It appears both locations use my new address to me. I want everything going to the same email.

I think my respect for computers might have gone down this day. Mostly due to the fact that they doesn’t follow the logical lines I have set up in my head. I suppose this means my logic isn’t always the logic in use. *snaps his fingers in mock frustration* Damn!

  • That annoys me about them sometimes, too. ;)

    Glad you’re all set now!
