Hi, I want to change the ‘example’ part to my wordpress website address. However I want to know if after the change, all my blog posts will still be up and stay just the same on the new address i’ve created? I dont want to change it and loose all my blog posts that are on the old one. After all I just want to change the name of the address. Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

Are you referring to the site https://sunloveraliciareg.wordpress.com/? And what do you mean by “the ‘example’ part?”

Hi there, thanks for responding. The example part I mean ‘sunloveraliciareg’ (That’s how they refer to it on the wordpress website) I want to change that part of the address.

You’re welcome. Thanks for the explanation.

However I want to know if after the change, all my blog posts will still be up and stay just the same on the new address i’ve created?

Yes. Changing the website address has no effect upon the content, including your blog posts. See the Change Your Blog Address support page. However note this warning and suggestion in the support page:

If you follow this guide and change your blog address, link[s] to your old address, including search engine results, will be broken unless you add a Site Redirect upgrade.

Thank you thats great. “Link(s) to your old address including search engine results, will be broken” basically, does this mean if someone is searching for me at the old address they will get error? I am okay with that, as I will be updating my new address on instagram, twitter, etc so people will click on the new website address instead of the old one.
Thanks for clarifying this for me!

does this mean if someone is searching for me at the old address they will get error?

Yes. However, links to the old address may be found not only on your social networking sites, but on those of your followers, in your email, on your site, and on other sites if you’ve commented on them, on the sites of those who follow, like, or are interested in your site, etc. Perhaps more significantly, links to your site will likely be found all over Google and other search engines (search results, images, etc.). That is why Site Redirect is typically highly recommended.

If your site is relatively new and growing, the issues I’ve described might only be a minor inconvenience for a while. It’s your decision.

Okay, thank you very much for that. I have only started blogging earlier on this year, so I am hoping as you say, it won’t be a huge issue. Thank you so much for your help.
