    Hello there,

    With Custom Design (the upgrade that has given you Custom CSS), you also get access to Custom Fonts. So you can actually edit the fonts and font sizes without having to touch the CSS.

    If you go to Appearance -> Customize from the Dashboard, you will then enter the Customizer. From here, you can select the Fonts tab on the right hand side, and from here you can change your fonts and font sizes.

    It is possible to do some more advanced customization with CSS so if you want to further customize, let me know.

    Best,

    Jack

    I also want to change the fonts in a theme, and have done the above, but the changes are not overriding the theme. We set up a design build site prior to publishing the real site, and it seems like something got mixed up in the transition. The odd thing is, if you just click on Appearance and then Custom Design and then Fonts, instead of Appearance and then Customize, it does not show the changes, but it does when you click on Appearance and then Customize. Though both do show “corrindesignbuild2.wordpress.com…” instead of just corrindesignbuld.com… any thoughts on how to fix this so that the changes to the fonts show in the published site? Would css be required, or is there something we’re missing?

    @bradrappleyea
    http://corrindesignbuild.com/ is NOT a free hosted WordPress.com blog and you cannot get support for it here. You are posting to the wrong support forum. WordPress.com and WordPress.org have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

    Wow, I really have no idea what you mean. And I had no idea that there was another wordpress…? The site that is published, corringdesignbuild.com, is logged into via wordpress.com and if I’m logging in via wordpress.com, then I am assuming it is a wordpress.com site. The wordpress.com in the name for the info that is in the Appearance then Customize section would indicate that I am using a wordpress.com site, corrindesignbuild2.wordpress.com. I’ve never heard of wordpress.org. How are you detertmining that it is a wordpress.org site?

    There are two “flavors” of WordPress
    Here’s a comparison http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
    corrindesignbuild.com Is hosted by GoDaddy.com
    It’s not hosted by WordPress.com and we don’t provide any support for forwarding and masking.

    While we have no policy against domain masking, in our experience our users have a less satisfactory experience when they try that trick rather than going with our Domain Mapping upgrade.

    For one example, here’s one user who weighed the pros and cons and decided to go with our service: http://seriouslytrivial.com/2009/01/03/wordpress-domain-forwarding-and-masking/

    Admittedly that’s a bit dated but the general gist of their post is still accurate now. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/domain-mapping-442?replies=11#post-1509284

    We provide support only for blogs with domain mapping upgrades. Mapping and existing domain costs $13. annually.

    In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

    See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

    See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    @bradrappleyea , corringdesignbuild.com does not resolve to a site and my browser reports it cannot find that domain name. http://corrindesignbuild.com (without the “g”) is hosted at Godaddy.

    I would suggest posting at the self-hosted WordPress.org forums as using web fonts on self-hosted sites is different than here at WordPress.com.

    The client had said the domain had been transferred from GoDaddy to WordPress.com, perhaps something was done incorrectly on the GoDaddy end in the transfer…? There was no ill intent in this endeavor, simply naivette and a lack of knowledge/insight of the domain transfer side of it. And I’ve never heard of domain masking. Wish the answer would have been approached from the perspective of teaching instead of assuming were trying to pull one over on someone, but business is business. Thanks for the help, it was very insightful, and did help us resolve the issue.

    I just upgraded to custom design for Ever After theme. I have a free wordpress site without a custom domain and my blog is hosted by WordPress.com. I made the changes to my font and headings because of the needs for my readers and myself but the original fonts size and styles are overiding by the original theme. The colors changed to black with white back ground which helps, but the text of the posts are still too small and not easy to read. http://daisyintherain.wordpress.com/
    I want the headings to be chunk with a larger size or 18px. The body I would like to be proxima nova with a medium size or 14px. I even tried CSS sheet just for those choices and it is not working.

    @jwingert72
    Hi there,
    Please do not hijack other bloggers threads by posting off topic into theme. All CSS editing is theme specific editing and you are not using the same theme ie. Misty Lake. You are using Chunk. Please click this link and create your own thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform

    @jwingert72, it seems you have gotten the fonts size issue and font families sorted out. Your site is looking grand. I love the bold yellow background and Daisy header image.

    If you have any questions or problems, let us know.

    Timethief – You seem to think the worst of the people posting. First off as a newbie to this forum and to wordpress, I did not think I was highjacking anyone’s thread. Topic states changing font and font size in CSS. I had no idea that it is different depending on the theme one is using, Also my theme is not Chunk it is Ever After, I was only changing my fonts to Chunk for their ease of viewing for the visually impaired. Try and remember that some of us on this WordPress are new and we are trying to do the best that we can. Think the best of the people who are on here instead of the worse of them. Use your words as a teaching opportunity and not an attack. Your words come across harshly and without charity in this medium.

    Thank you Sacred Path for your kind words and understanding to what I was working on. And tackling issues with charity and teaching. I think even though I have tried to fix it on my own. The cache on this computer is pulling up the old fonts and screen shots with Chrome even. But on my kindle it pulls correctly with the font changes on them same internet provider.

    I sometimes have the same issue with Firefox and Safari and when doing CSS work here in the forums, I seem to have to clear the browser cache at least a few times each day when they get to relying to heavily on their cached files.
