Changing the font in the plain text editor
-
I am using the plain text editor, the better for control over embedded code segments (using the
tag), but the font in the editor is not monospaced, which makes visual formatting very difficult. How do I obtain a monospaced font in the editor? Thanks, Alasdair

Drat – there was a formatting I didn’t expect:

You would have to hack the underlying files to change the display font in the editor, and we do not have access to those files.

Thanks, folks. I guess I should use another editor to create my posts, and copy and paste into wordpress. Seems like a extra annoyance though – I like to keep within one application, if I can.
I’m currently using firefox (linux), version 2.0.0.1.

I’m heading for my bed now. But I’ll get back to this thread later, since this a problem i’d like to tackle for myself as well.

You can try and paste this into your userContent.css. It should format the code editor accordingly.:
body.wp-admin textarea#content{font-family:monospace;}To find out more about this:

Brilliant – deltafoxtrot you are a life saver! I just needed to make a tiny amendment:
body.wp-admin textarea#content{font-family:monospace !important;}and now I have exactly what I wanted.

You also can go with option B which is a off line blog editor thats what I use “Windows Live Writer” with WLW you have the ability to see what your content is going to look like on your blog before you save or publish your content

Thanks for getting back with the tiny amendment. I’ll enhance this hack for several other instances of textareas, where a monospaced font comes handy, such as this very box, I’m wrting in right now.
body.wp-admin textarea#content{ font-family:monospace !important; } textarea#post_content{ font-family:monospace !important; }
