Changing the footer on a personal plan
-
Hey there!
I’ve just upgraded to a personal plan and would love to be able to add a custom footer that includes my copyright/ intellectual property notice across all pages.
At present when I add footer manually to each page I can’t add to the portfolio and blog pages as these get automatically populated by my blog posts and portfolio entries.
Is this possible and if so how do I do this?
My website if need be https://elisamctaggart.com.au/
Cheers,
ElisaThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What you have added to your site’s front page is not a footer. That’s just text you added to the page in the editor, and is specific to only that page.
The only way to add a notice like this to the footer of your theme is by using custom CSS, and you’ll need the Premium Plan to do that. The other option would have been a widget, but your theme does not have a footer widget area, only a sidebar.

Thanks for your post.

Yep, I know – it’s my temporary work-around.
Cool, yeah Premium is not an option just yet. The Personal plan is a stretch when no cash is coming into the business just yet.

I understand. In that case, consider adding the notice to a text widget in your sidebar instead. There’s no rule that says this has to be in the footer, though that’s where people usually put it.
Strictly speaking, a notice like this is not even required – copyright applies to any content one publishes whether or not you add a notice saying so. Having the notice just helps as a deterrent against people who don’t know any better, and as long as it’s visible somewhere on your site you can point to it when trying to enforce your copyright.

Ah, yes, this is perfect! I had wondered about that widget.
I’ve removed my text from bottom of each page and added as a text widget. Looks much better!Yeah, I want the message on there purely as a deterrent for people who don’t think!
Thanks so much for your help :)
