Changing the heading (font) for the blog
-
Hi, I don’t see an area where I can make the font smaller for the heading of my blog. I can change the font for the other paragraphs but not the heading. Please advise?
thanks in advance for your help! -
Hi there,
Unfortunately Post/Page Header font size is something that is controlled by Theme. You can customize the font itself as described there https://wordpress.com/support/custom-fonts/ , but most Themes do not have header font size adjustment option.
So the only way is to use a custom CSS if you have Premium plan or higher. If you do, something like this shall work:.content-area .entry-header { font-size: 50px; } -
Hi there,
most Themes do not have header font size adjustment option
This is not entirely accurate.
If you go to the Fonts section in the Customizer, you’ll see two options, for heading fonts and base fonts. If you select a custom font for either of those two options, you’ll also be able to modify the font size.
You won’t see the custom size option if you have the default font of the theme selected.
Also note that this will change the font and font size for all headings on the site, e.g. post and page titles, widget headings, etc., not just for the site title.

Hi @kokkieh,
Yes, that was exactly the case: “You won’t see the custom size option if you have the default font of the theme selected.” I would add that comment here: https://wordpress.com/support/custom-fonts/#adjusting-font-size-and-style.
P.S. in Calypso multisite it is not possible anymore to choose “all sites” to generate theme search filter like this: https://wordpress.com/themes?s=fonts. Now I need to choose a website first and the URL becomes like this: https://wordpress.com/themes/freewpaccount289509231.wordpress.com?s=fonts which is not usable for others. I have opened an issue about that in GitHub but am not sure if I did that right.

If you choose any of your sites to look for the desired themes, you can then easily share a link without the site address at the end, e.g.:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/left-sidebar/,
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/fluid-layout/.I think the issue here might be trying to share a custom search rather than results for an existing filter.

Hi staff-mckluskey,
Does your provided links open normally at your side, without choosing the website?
For me not, I have to choose a website first. That is the issue, I can not delete am exact website from the end of a link like this https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/responsive-layout/freewpaccount289509231.wordpress.com
, when I delete, I end up in the window to choose one of my websites and a website is added to URL again. That was not like this last week. Also, this way leads to same issue: Go to My Sites > Posts > Switch Site > All My Sites > Themes. When I am in “all sites”, I can not go to Themes like I did before- I have to choose a website first.
Would be happy if you could comment on that :)

Yes, you’ll always need to select your site after clicking on the theme link. Even just https://wordpress.com/themes/ will take you to the site list.
But you can share the link without the site address included, so the person clicking on it will get taken to their own site list if they have more than one site.

Could You please try to activate a theme on this link wordpress.com/blog/category/themes/
I viewed the URL, but it’s unclear to me how you may be activating a theme from that list. Could you provide the steps you are taking to activate the theme once you have visited that URL? Thanks!

Hi @deancroyal,
Am sorry, I gave wrong link, but it is related to the case:
Here is a list of themes where I have copied the second link:
https://wordpress.com/blog/category/themes/Here is one of the links to the theme, following which you can Activate a theme:
https://wordpress.com/theme/twentytwentyoneThanks in advance!

I think I understand now. Here’s what I did and I believe I got the same result as you…
1. Go to https://wordpress.com/blog/category/themes/
2. Click on the first theme there – “New Theme: Twenty Twenty One”
3. That takes me to this theme’s launch blog post: https://wordpress.com/blog/2021/01/14/twenty-twenty-one/
4. Near the bottom of the post, click on “Learn more about TwentyTwentyOne”
5. I’m taken to the theme’s landing page: https://wordpress.com/theme/twentytwentyone
6. Click on the button near the top, “Activate this design FREE”
7. I’m presented a pop-over asking me, “How would you like to use Twenty Twenty-One on your site?” – example: https://d.pr/i/pKfQwi
8. Click on “Activate Twenty Twenty-One” button to activate theme.
9. Immediately get an error message in the top-right that says, “Unable to activate theme. Contact support.” – example: https://d.pr/i/bQ8MNh
As best I can tell the issue is we are not presenting the site selection option immediately after clicking the “Activate this design” button in step 6.
Does this sound accurate to you @maksimurasov?

Hi @deancroyal,
The above is so amazing detailed :) And yes, that is same as I get.
As best I can tell the issue is we are not presenting the site selection option immediately after clicking the “Activate this design” button in step 6.
On WordPress.com desktop app exactly same is already implemented-
You can go to My Sites > Switch Site > All my sites > Themes> Twenty Twenty One > Activate this designFREE > a popup appears to choose a site. I have briefly mentioned that on GitHub bug report #53110, I will explain that more clearly. Thanks a lot for testing and describing the error, now I see how it should be done from the beginning:)
