Changing the landing page

  I’m using the “Eventbrite Multi Event” theme. I only need this site to organize and display events. I don’t do random posts, so it’s annoying that the posts that are there are the landing page. How do i change it so the landing page is some static page that I have set up? I’ve seen http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page which is not helpful at all.

  You stop reading WordPress.ORG info; it doesnt relate to the software you’re using. Read http://support.wordpress.com/ instead.

  You create a static page and then on Settings->General you set that as the opening page.
