Changing the layout of images on the post

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
I am using Gridspace theme for my website and I was wanting to change the layout of the images on a post. It already comes with the basic auto layouts like square, tiled mosaic and others however, I was wanting to have my images to be displayed individually on the pages without the viewers being able to click on it to view it large. Is this possible for it to be done with the same theme or do I need to change the theme / the css code?
Ps: I don’t have a premium version as it is a little costly for me so any other options would be appreciated.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Also, if anyone knows about how I can add the purchase/shop plugin please share :)

    Hi there!

If you want to turn off the links in your gallery, please open a post, like this one:
    https://wordpress.com/post/60233192/751/?optin

Click once on any image in the gallery. When the pencil icon appears, click it.

You will be taken to the Edit Gallery page. In the right-hand, Gallery Settings column, you’ll see a heading for “Link to.” Use the drop down box to choose “None.” Then, save your changes.

When you are taken back to your Post editor, click to Update and save the change to the Gallery. That should do the trick for you!

Also, if anyone knows about how I can add the purchase/shop plugin please share :)

Third party plugins cannot be installed on WordPress.com sites. This is a security risk as we cannot vet all outside code and it puts our users, their sites, and our servers at risk.

Plugins are only usable on self-hosted WordPress.org sites.

I know the difference between .com and .org can get confusing, so here’s a breakdown of the benefits of each:

Sometimes, even without the installation of a plugin, we can help you gain the function you’d like here at WordPress.com. If you let me know your goals, perhaps I can help further. For instance, if you’d like to add PayPal buttons so visitors can purchase the artwork you created, you can do so. Here are the details:

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

    Hey!
Thank you for replying to my post. I don’t know if I didn’t explain it properly or its not working for me. But, I was wanting to stop the popup of the image appear after someone has clicked on the image. I just tried what you mentioned about selecting ‘none’ in link to the option but it is still doing the same thing by opening a new popup window with larger image/ gallery. Don’t know what I am doing wrong.

As for the paypal option, yes, that is what I wanted :) However, I want to have an e-commerce section to my website meaning, an option for the viewers to purchase my artworks. An example of this is – http://oleutikal.de/shop/american-apparat-3-2/

Basically, to allow users to select the number of products they want to purchase then, take it to the shopping cart and then the final transaction. The final transaction I guess I can do by adding paypal with the steps you linked me however, I would love to other things I mentioned too.

Also, 2 more questions (sorry too many). I was recently editing my page in Gridspace theme and I have added a menu bar now. However, its positioned above my header and I was wanting to place it below the header image, is this possible? Also I was wanting to change the size of the menu bar’s text, is this also possible to do without having premium account?

    Thank you :)

Forgot to ask this. Back to the image topic on the post, I was wanting to have an encryption where someone is not able to click on the image and drag and move to save it. Something like what Pinterest has at the moment on their website. Is this also possible to do or do I need to add some code in?

    Hey there!

Ah, that clarifies things. What you will want in this case is to turn off your site’s media carousel. To do this, click here:
    https://ayushad.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-media.php

Disable the option to “Display images in full-size carousel slideshow” and then save your change.

Basically, to allow users to select the number of products they want to purchase then, take it to the shopping cart and then the final transaction.

The shopping cart function you have explained cannot be used on free WordPress.com sites. You would have to upgrade to a Business site in order to have full e-commerce functionality:
    https://wordpress.com/business/

You may also look into self-hosting your WordPress.com site, so you can add a shopping cart, without the requirement of a full Business upgrade. Here is the difference between hosting your site at WordPress.com, and hosting on your own via WordPress.org:

I was wanting to have an encryption where someone is not able to click on the image and drag and move to save it. Something like what Pinterest has at the moment on their website. Is this also possible to do or do I need to add some code in?

Again, this cannot be done at WordPress.com, but can be done on a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

I have added a menu bar now. However, its positioned above my header and I was wanting to place it below the header image, is this possible? Also I was wanting to change the size of the menu bar’s text, is this also possible to do without having premium account?

Because both of these requests would call for changing your theme developer’s design, the premium upgrade would be necessary to adjust the CSS code.

I think I’ve addressed all your questions/concerns! If I can help with anything else, please do let me know.

    Many thanks.

    Hi,
Thank you so much for your help! It was very helpful.
I do have one more question now. I am using Gridspace theme and on the front page all my post doesn’t display all in a row. It is broken down by ‘older post’ tab and then you are able to view it. Is there a way I am able to display it all in the row so the viewers don’t have to click the button ?

    Thank you,
    Ayusha

    Hi Ayusha!

One thing you can do is enable the Infinite Scroll option in your Reading Settings:

    Infinite Scroll

However, you currently have a widget in your footer widget area. To enable Infinite Scroll, all footer widgets have to be removed first. (Because with infinite scroll enabled, they won’t appear.)
