changing the "link" colors
-
I have Quintus theme and I upgraded to the Custom CSS option to try my hand at tweaking….
The color of the links ( like when I make a word link back to something else) is a hard to see brown and I was wondering if that could be changed? perhaps by editing the color in the CSS screen – but I am an amateur and don’t know how to locate the right section of the coding to in the first place.
thanks

First, you might want to try out the Firebug browser extension for Firefox. When it’s installed, you can right-click on elements on a page and select “Inspect Element” and it will display all the related CSS to whatever you selected. It’s pretty handy. There is also a CSS inspector built right in to the Safari and Chrome browsers.
You should also look up a basic CSS tutorial like the one here as it will be very helpful when you are just starting out: http://www.htmldog.com/guides/cssbeginner/
In your case, I suspect that adding this CSS will do the trick:
.content a {color: your-color-hex-value-here;}
