Changing the Look of New Dashboard
-
OK. I have to admit my first reaction was…aaargh! This is horrible. But then I played around with it by doing a couple of unpublished test posts and just looking at everything slowly to see what it does. Basically all the functions and doodads I thought were gone had simply morphed a bit. And then I realized this actually has some cool new things going on. Just takes a little getting used to. I did have to revert to the classic color scheme just to pacify my “oh my god” brain cells, but now it looks pretty good to me. Agree with some that the Dashboard is a bit busy, but since I don’t pay for any of this, I can learn to live with it. Still…you did give a lot of us a bit of a jolt out there guys. For us old codgers, please be gentle next time. ;-)

I agree the ‘Fresh’ colors do hurt my more myopic eyes. I was trying to cross train my brain to get used to the new colors but decided to do the following: Go to Users>Your Profile and select ‘Classic’ under Admin Color Scheme, then scroll all the way to the bottom and click the ‘Update Profile’ button to save the changes. Now, I’m a happy camper once again and could see the words better.

why did they create a dashboard that is TINY in width????
This little dashboard only uses 1/3 of my screen.
WORDPRESS FIX THIS MESS, PLEASE!

Add another not happy blogger to the list. The light blue font is too hard to read, the uploading of images is more complicated and now regular readers of my blog are unable to post comments as usual without becoming WordPress members.
Adding new names to my blogroll is also more steps than it used to be.
Change is fine if it’s an improvement in facilitating the end product.
Think you messed up here. -
Bonnie,
The comment issue has happened before the upgrade also to quite a few people. It isn’t something new. Somehow, and no one knows why, a setting gets changed.
Go down to “membership” to settings > general go down to “membership” and uncheck “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” and click “save changes.”
On the color changes, try going to users > your profile and selecting the “Classic” color scheme under “Admin Color Scheme” and then click “update profile” at the bottom of the page.

Once again- it’s wonderful to rely on a prompt assist here. Thank you
and I’ll try what you’ve suggested. You replied to my post elsewhere here on these pages about the comment issue which, thanks to you, I resolved in about 2 seconds.
Wonderful and much appreciated.
Change- we can live with it when help is just seconds away. -
I hate the new look and feel. It looks awry… Too much information cluttered all over the desktop… The desktop looks like a big car crash on the old desktop…
Please turn off this downgrade…

I thought it was broken too. It almost looks as bad as Second Life’s “Dazzle” interface, but at least the text is on backgrounds of uniform color instead of gradients.
