Changing the name of my blog

  Hi there—When I registered, I just put down any name for my blog, because I wasn’t really sure what I was going to use it for. Now want to change the name, but I don’t really know how to do it.

  Jocelyn, you purchased a custom domain name, purgatoryblog.com , for your blog. Unfortunately there is no way to edit or change the domain name you have registered. You will have to register another domain name, which will cost $5.00. You do not need the domain mapping since you already have it, just the domain name. You can purchase that at Store > Store and click on the “Registration” link in the Add a Domain module.

  Go to the dashboard of your site here https://purgatoryblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php . In the domains module at upper left, click on “Registration” and you can register another domain name. After doing that, go to https://purgatoryblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains (Store > Domains) and set that new domain as your primary and click the “update primary domain”. It could take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours for the domain name to propagate through all the internet nameservers, but generally it is less. How soon you will see your blog under your new domain name is entirely dependent on how often your ISP updates their nameserver caches.
