Changing the name of my blog to a domain I already bought
-
I already have a blog with wordpress that I’ve been using for a while and now I want to change the name of my blog to a domain name that I bought some time ago through go daddy, but haven’t used. There’s i a lot of info out there about mapping the go daddy domain on wordpress, but I’m trying to actually have my current blog have the url of the domain I bought.
Can anyone please help? Right now I’m just forwarding the go daddy url to the blog.
Thank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Start here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
If you have email with the domain name – see this also: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/add-godaddy-email/

@ auxclass – Thank you!
I have tried mapping it, but it only allows me to add it as a separate domain that I manage through my wordpress account and that’s not what I’m looking for. I want to blog to remain exactly as it, but take the name of the domain.

Domain mapping changes lavcraft.wordpress.com. to your-domain.com for your visitors –
the site linked to my name is domain mapped

Then I’m even more confused now, because I did exactly what the instructions in your link say a few days ago, including changing the nameservers on go daddy and my domain would just go to the domain name instead of going to the blog.
When I set it as primary, the actual blog would redirect to the website instead of the other way around.
I’m sorry if I’m asking dumb questions here, I’ve never had to deal with website design before and it’s a complete foreign language to me.

it can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet – changes usually start after a few hours but caching issues mean you will be the last one to see the changes

Got it. Ok that explains a lot. I will try again. Thank you so much for your patience, it really helps a lot.

You be welcome & good luck
PS – you can check the settings after you map your domain name – you can check the settings below – caution – there can be a bit of a delay so if you check the settings two minutes after you make the changes you might get an erratic answer

Yes! It totally works. Thank you so much for your patience and for not completely blowing me off when I kept having the same issue over and over again.
