I could be the only one with this problem so it’s kewl if I don’t get back any soltuions. I have a blog on wordpress.com which I initially created to get a hang for how things work, etc. Then being quite happy that this could be my answer to a CMS for my website I went ahead and downloaded from wordpress.org onot my own site.
Everything worked great and still does, except for one thing. I still have the wordpress.com site live and rather than redo all the work done on the website, I just use the import / export function. However it imports everything :
1) Pages are named slightly differently on the website and on the wordpress.com blog, so it duplicates these, which isn’t really a problem as I can manually delete the pages that should not be there. However, is there a way to specify parameters for the import / export like only import posts and comments.
2) Some of the comments that are imported are linked to pages that I wish to remove as they only work on the website, eg (have my own php forms, etc that don’t work on the wordpress.com site), is it at all possible to link these comments to one of the pages that will stay on the blog or is this not possible. And if this is not possible and I do delete the page, am I correct in assuming that the comments go with it. Thanks for your assistance.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you export from your blog here, you can use the filter to only export posts, or page, or whatever. You can even select to only export a certain category or tag, or a certain author or set a start and end date.
On the comments thing that is something you are going to have to try and work out with the wordpress.ORG forum people. I expect though that it is going to be a lot of edit/copy/paste.

Not really sure why you would need this – have these two site been operating at the same time?
For a small number of comments, copying and pasting is probably your best bet. If you need to move a lot of comments, you may want to check out these plugins:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/move-wordpress-comments/Note that I haven’t tried any of them myself, and both of them are not marked as compatible with the latest version of WordPress.org.
