Changing the published image
-
Hi,
I have changed the “featured image” in an article and it appears with the new image on the blog. BUT when I try to post the link in Facebook or Twitter, the preview still shows the old image that was used when the article was published. How do i change the preview image to the new image that was added AFTER I published the article? Thanks.
MikeThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey Mike,
This is likely just a caching issue where the social networks have saved a version of your post including the old image. Could you point me to the post in question so I can take a look?

Hi Jeremy! Here is a sample article I am talking about: http://ducksnpucks.com/2014/08/03/ducks-whose-line-is-it-anyway/
I changed the featured photo after it was published and everything is fine on the blog. But when you copy and paste in twitter or FB the original shows in the preview.
Any suggestions?

Hi!
It looks like this is an issue with caching on the social media side. For example, if you check out what Facebook sees when it sees that URL, you can check here:
Under the option for og:image, you’ll see the link still points to the old image:
Unfortunately, there’s little we can do about this since the correct image is set as the featured image. It’s really just a matter of time before the social networks update as well.
One thing you could try would be to upload a larger image as the featured image. This image might be getting passed over because it’s a bit on the smaller side. Want to try something around 500×500 or larger?

Ok well I should be good if I delete the photos from the article and blog. I just don’t want copyright issues.

The photos definitely aren’t on your blog any longer. If you try to visit the photo URL, you’ll receive an error message. There really isn’t much you can do about the social media caching unfortunately!
