Changing the size of the entire site
-
When looking at the website, I see a decent size black strip down the left and a ton of black space on the right-hand side. The content portion only takes up a fraction of the page space. Is there a way to maybe widen the middle stuff so it takes up the whole webpage?
Also, the menu bar font look tiny from my web browser. Could I increase the size? Maybe fixing the first problem above would fix this one as well.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Do you understand that Twenty Fourteen is a responsive layout theme? A responsive layout theme adapts to different screen sizes so that your website will work (and be optimized for) iPhones, iPads, Android and other mobile devices. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.
The mobile theme is a completely different theme. When we use a responsive theme we disable the mobile theme Go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme

Thank you for the speedy reply. Unfortunately, I checked the mobile setting, and it was already set to Disable.

It sounds like you’re asking for a theme without a sidebar. That black space you’ve got on the left is where the sidebar content would ordinarily appear. An empty sidebar leaves just the background.
I’m sure there are some WordPress themes without sidebars, but I was unable to locate a list of them in a brief search.

It appears that also want the blog to fill up a typical monitor window.

That’s important to me too. After trying out many themes I learned to avoid those that leave big spaces of nothing on either side, such as Neat!, Ocean Mist, Regulus, Supposedly Clean, or those with extremely wide margins such as Quentin, Tonal, Wu Wei, etc.
You can search through the available themes, and try as many as you like until you find one that’s suits you.Btw, on a 12 inch wide monitor set at 1024 X68, I had to zoom out three clicks to see any margin on your right side.
