Changing the subdomain map for my blog made the cost rise by almost 8 times.

I had a subdomain mapping for my blog. I changed my domain and hence I wanted to change the map here as well. After going through the settings I realized that the only way to do this is to buy another subscription.
I, therefore, cancelled my older subscription so that I could set up a new one. I used to pay USD 13 for my older subscription plan. Now, that I am trying to renew the subscription with my newer domain, I see that I have to pay USD98 for the same thing which I was doing earlier. When and how was this suddenly changed? Considering the fact that I have been paying the same amount for the last 4 years now, I feel betrayed by the sudden surge in pricing.

  • Hi there!

To be able to map a domain, you need any of the paid plans, it does not need to be Premium (the $96 you mentioned). You can read more about our plans and their prices here:

    https://wordpress.com/pricing/

We maintained the pricing for you since you purchased it before the change, however, to map a new subdomain now a paid plan is required.
