Changing the url of the blog

  Hi guys,
  I recently wanted to change my blog address. And I was wondering how would that work? Will I lose my followers? Is the site still be indexed in google search? Or if my readers saved the url address into their favorites panes, when clicking it, it will still lead them to my new blog address? Thx for help.

  Hi @danaciolan, is the site hosted here?

  Also, will you be changing the free address to a paid domain, or just switching to a new free address?

  If you use a paid domain with a plan on a site hosted here, we automatically include redirects that solve most of the questions you brought up.

  If you want to change the address of a site hosted here from something like something.wordpress.com to something-else.wordpress.com you can do so following this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/

  You won’t lose your followers, those will be transferred automatically. There won’t be a redirect though.

  Any impact on the indexing will be up to Google, but we recommend that you start by verifying the new site in their webmaster tools: https://wordpress.com/support/webmaster-tools/#google-search-console

  If you want to change the address of a site hosted here from something like something.wordpress.com to something.com you can be adding a domain: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#add-a-domain-name

  This doesn’t actually change the underlying site, so followers will still be there after the change, and the old address will redirect to the new domain.
