changing the W in wordpress.com

You can’t change WordPress.com’s icon. If you mean in the URL bar in your browser, you can’t change that either. It’s called a Favicon, and only VIP blogs are allowed to have anything other than the standard WP.com W. VIP status costs several hundred dollars to set up plus several hundred dollars per month.
The favicon is literally the ONLY thing I like about Tumblr over WP.com. But it’s been suggested before and we are still waiting (do a forum search for “favicon”; and please only post once next time).

Hi there. I have seen this done on several word press blogs. Am I to understand that all of them have this “vip” hosting. You said it is impossible to change the favicon without it right?
There must be some way…. -

Those might also be self-hosted wordpress blogs: here is a summary of the differences between the two: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700&replies=1
WordPress.com blogs cannot change the favicon, because we have no access to the template code. -
Just ran across a blog hosted here at wp.com that has a different favicon http://crystalclearconservative.wordpress.com/ How come that one is blue?
-
That is curious. You’d think that if it were a VIP blog, they’d have come up with something more creative.
-
Did anyone notice the W icon changed from black to blue today?
Wow. They spent time doing that … when Categories still don’t frikkin work properly.

I should do a screensnap and post about this.
You know, because the Categories bug is driving me so crazy, I will!
