  I am a beginner and just activated a theme without really studying its features.Can I change the theme without paying or upgrading? I’

  Hi there, the theme you’re using now is really a very good one (it’s the default theme for 2016) with lots of features and set up options. https://wordpress.com/themes/twentysixteen/

  Right now, my suggestion is to concentrate on creating content. Later on you can change your site to any of the many free WPcom themes from your site’s Dashboard by using the Customizer or by activating a new theme via its Showcase page.
