  Dear all, I am looking for a new theme for my site,is there any doc about best practices to follow?

  There is no best practice guide but check the Themes support guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/ to learn how themes work on WordPress.com.

  When you switch themes, all your content remains intact but few things like menus, widgets and custom CSS will rearrange. So specifically check the Switching Themes section: https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes
