Hi there,
If you click on “My Site” -> you will see a menu that has “Themes” -> Here you can activate the theme you like.
You can follow the instructions in this link to activate your choice of theme ..
https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/Hope this helps.

Note the username and how it contains “design group”. It’s quite possible that this blogger is not aware if the differences between wordpress.COM hosted sites and wordpress.ORG sites.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Therefore, they may think that wordpress.COM blogs have FTP access and that they can create or upload a custom theme or a third party theme, when that is not possible.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#uploading-custom-themesThey may also be unaware that they cannot hack a theme template as they can do on any wordpress.ORG install. We cannot even access templates here at wordpress.COM, as this is a multiuser blogging platform and all blogs wearing the same theme use the same underlying template found on the relevant live demo site. And, they may not know how limited CSS editing is on wordpress.com blogs, and that an annually renewable upgrade is required to do any CSS editing.
See here for details on the annually renewable Premium bundle http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/ that contains a custom design upgrade required for CSS editing. Read Custom design – Frequently Asked Questions http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions
