Changing theme – Widgets and links lost
-
I want to change my WordPress site from one theme to another. But today, when I preview the new theme, it is not showing all the sidebar widgets and useful links that I have on the original site. This is strange as it was showing everything a couple of days ago when I first previewed the new theme. I made a copy of the old site so that I could experiment with the new theme and again the sidebar widgets did not copy across and they are not in the inactive widgets either. I really want to change theme but I don’t want to have to recreate all the widgets and useful links again from scratch. Any advice?

Ok.
My advice is that you read the instructions on the page theme:

Thanks, but I know how to add widgets and links to the new theme. What I want to know is how to copy them across from the old theme to the new theme. When I change theme, they just disappear. I don’t want to have to recreate lots of links in the sidebar of the new theme.

When I change theme, they just disappear.
It is normal that to happen.
I don’t want to have to recreate lots of links in the sidebar of the new theme.
Look for them in your inactive widgets area. They are there.
