Changing themes

  If I change my theme, will all the alterations I’ve done n my current site disappear and therefore mean that I have to start again?

  Secondly, does anyone know a free theme, where you have a single opening page which, with a click on a picture, can take you into the main site, almost like a door opening?

  If you change your theme, mostly everything remains the same as Your posts, pages, media, blogroll, and all of your content.

  Few things that will change are Widgets, Custom CSS, Custom Menus.

  Secondly, I checked for the type of theme that you are looking for and found one which is https://wordpress.com/theme/obsidian but it is a paid one.
  You can upgrade your plan to premium to use this theme on your site.
