Changing themes doesn’t update “Used Widgets” tab.

I recently changed the theme of my blog to Andreas 09, which I believe comes with its own set of widgets. When I tried to change them, I found that my old widget setup from the previous theme was still in place, so I couldn’t add a ‘Recent Posts’ widget to the current sidebar, because it was “already added”.

The list loaded up properly when I added then removed a random widget and saved.

(That was pretty much the full problem, but I’m not sure the rest.)

After setting widgets for both sidebars, I loaded up the page to see how it looks, and found that the widgets didn’t have the Andreas 09 theme’s design – the theme has each Category and Archived Month in its own box, etc., but when I changed to ‘my own’ widgets, they were just standard lists.

If you preview Andreas09 and compare with the blog (http://terminaldays.wordpress.com/), you’ll notice that even the same widgets look different.

Have you tried clearing your cache? I don’t see anything wrong with the widgets in http://terminaldays.wordpress.com/

As for the widget setup – naturally, it carries over from one blog to the next. Otherwise, you’d have to completely redo the widgets every time you changed themes. And that would be a royal PITA for text widgets, in particular.

I’ve just cleared all temporary data. But when I load the page, it still doesn’t seem to be right. For one, the child categories (eg. Travel) aren’t indented. And the theme preview showed Categories and such in their own separate boxes.

And about the widget setup; well, yes, it’s right for it to carry over, but when I first loaded the theme, the page that came up didn’t have my setup of widgets, but the widgets that showed up in the preview. When I tried to see what was going on (maybe try to add them back) I found that they were “already used”. Maybe this is more of a glitch, dunno.

Okay, I’ve tried changing to another theme (Garland), but this time the carry-over worked fine.

But whenever I try to preview the Andreas 09 theme (the one I got an error with) it still doesn’t show indented, boxed lists, etc.

So I’m just sort of throwing up my hands at this point.

Can anyone point me to another blog which uses Andreas 09, so I can know whether this is just my own machine’s problem or if it’s a glitch or…?

Whether child categories show indented or not is theme dependent.

    Ah, okay, my mistake. Thanks.

So I guess the widgets-didnt-load was a one-time thing, then.

mcarazor, I think t’s not your mistake. I just loaded Andreas 09 in my test blog: subcategories show both indented and in smaller type.
