Changing third-party nameservers to WordPress when domain already mapped?
-
One of my WordPress domains (blog.nopensionwilltravel.com) is using third-party nameservers (dnsmadeeasy.com) – is there an easy way to switch to using WordPress’ own nameservers, the way my other domain does? I don’t want to lose my GMail settings in the process.
(The other one all happened automatically when I started domain mapping recently, but I don’t remember this option when I started mapping nopensionwilltravel.com about 18 months ago.)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Currently you are mapping a subdomain which is why you keep your nameservers set to your current nameservers. If you want to move it to us, you would have to have your domain: nopensionwilltravel.com point to us at: nopensionwilltravel.wordpress.com.
Is that what you want? In that case, you probably wouldn’t need a subdomain as the domain: nopensionwilltravel.com will be pointing to your site.
If you just want the subdomain: blog.nopensionwilltravel.com pointing to your site, then please just leave it as is.

OK, thanks, I’ll have to think about that. I guess if I want to make the change you describe, I’d have to request it specially, as I don’t see a button for this (having made the subdomain decision when I first set up the domain with WordPress.)

We can definitely help you make that switch if that’s the route you want to go. Just let us know! We’re happy to switch out the subdomain for the root domain. Also, regarding your custom email, we can help you enter email records so that your email doesn’t go down when you change the name servers to point to WordPress.com!
