    Hello there,

    1 -> Settings > General
You can change your blog title and tagline on this page at any time. Be sure to click “save changes” when you are done.

    2. Just so you know, at this point this theme Andreas 09 is not one that has customizable image header. When I did a search a css expert said: “It would require quite a lot of rework to do what you want. Not to mention image slicing and CSS hackery. :( “

My suggestion is that if a custom image header is important to you please go to the live demo themes site and use the filter feature to select one of the many themes that have that feature.
    http://theme.wordpress.com/

    This is the other alternative.
If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS
upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the
appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it
does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the
underlying template.  Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you
cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at
    wordpress.COM.
Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and
precious little Volunteer support,  I recommend that you don’t buy the
upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS
because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to
Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview
function where you can try before you buy.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/
If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

Hi, I would like to add the theme below but only if I can change the picture on it. Is it possible and is it easy?

How would I change the pic?

    Thank you!

    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/chaoticsoul/

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, you can change the header image in Chaoticsoul at appearance > header.

  • Unknown's avatar

Go here > Appearance > Themes and type the name of the theme into the searchbox

Each theme has a thumbshot and a features summary description and you can click “Preview” to see what it will look like on your blog. When you are ready click “Activate”.

The theme will appear on your site with a default display of what appears to be widgets in the sidebar. They are not actual widgets. Do not panic.
Go here > Appearance > Widgets and rag and drop the widgets you were using out of the “Inactive Widgets” box and place them where you want them in the sidebar.

Optimize and header image and presize it to fit 760 × 151 pixels will be used as-is. Now go here > > Appearance > Header
click “Browse” – Choose an image from your computer > Click Upload.
    Click “Save Changes”

Note: This theme header has a narrow vertical black bar in the center of the header image.

Awesome, thank you guys! Any thoughts on how it looks? I think it might be too dark of a theme and the pic is a bit “busy.”

I’m visually challenged and I am giving it a thumbs up!

Why not so it yourself? See here for a step by step tutorial provided by Staff > http://learn.wordpress.com/

Hey, how do I fill in the sides of my page? Is that where ads go? I don’t like it so bare.

Err, wish I knew more about this stuff.

    thx

In a nutshell free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM cannot be used to drive traffic to third-party sites by means of advertising and/or affiliate programs (see next section for more clarity). E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on wordpress.COM blogs. No retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed.

    Affiliate marketing blogs
The only exceptions with regard to affiliate links are found here:

Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (“Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category. http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

    Advertising
I am sorry, but advertising is not allowed on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. The only exceptions are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and very high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

If you require an ecommerce site, advertising and/or affiliate links on your blog, you can hire a web host and get a free software install from http://wordpress.org In that case, please see the information at the link below to learn about the differences between free hosted WordPress.com blogs and WordPress.org software installs for self hosting. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hey, how do I fill in the sides of my page?

There are many widgets we can use and as your blog grows you will find the space in your sidebar will fill. The main page for Sidebars and Widgets is here. http://en.support.wordpress.com/topic/widgets-sidebars/ On it you will find links to pages that explain what each widget is for and how you can configure it.

  • Unknown's avatar

Okay, thank you for responding. Yeah, I am not interested in advertising. I don’t have enough traffic anyway.

Okay, yeah I will just have to familiarize myself with all the options. I wish it weren’t so intimidating.

    Thanks again for your assistance!

    Mitchell

    @Mitchell,
Don’t be intimidated. Use this step by step tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/ Ask for help on this forum when you can’t find answers in the support documentation http://en.support.wordpress.com
Best wishes with your blog. :)

Good morning, yeah I used to be better at stuff like this. I learned a few things about HTML when I was on Myspace years ago. But it was pretty basic. And I have some medical (mental) issues now that make things harder. But I will learn. :)

I have a question about the theme below. Can I change text color at all? I don’t like the green colored text.

    Thanks again!

I have a question about the theme below. Can I change text color at all? I don’t like the green colored text.

If you are expecting to be able to click a button and change fonts throughout your blog then it’s not that easily done. There are 4 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.
    (1) Changing font colors and size on posts or pages either post by post or page by page http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/
    (2) Changing font colors using the #4 icon http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
    (3) Changing font families using TypeKit Fonts http://typekit.assistly.com/customer/portal/articles/6840-using-typekit-with-wordpress-com
    (4) Changing font families, colors & sizes by purchasing an annually renewable CSS editing upgrade and doing the work yourself

Hi there, okay which one of these steps would help me change the text color on the home page of the blog theme below?

    Thank you!
