Changing To A New Theme

I just purchased a premium theme that I would like to switch my current blog over to. Due to the different formats between the two themes, there are a lot of changes I need to make before my new theme should be ready to go. If I were to switch over to a new theme, my site would like really awkward, and it would take a while to fix. So basically I was just wondering if there is anyway I can continue running my current blog theme, while slowly making changes to the new theme. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry, no there is not. The premium theme purchase is per blog, so you can’t even install it on a test blog to get the kinks worked out.

One suggestion given previously was to set up the new theme on a test site for 30 days (the refund period) and then ask Support to transfer the theme to your regular site.

Just note that support for the premium theme is not given here in the regular support forums but the special forum for premium themes, where you can get help from the theme author. The special forum is part of the price you paid for the upgrade.

~~@tsp, did my above suggestion get dropped? Perhaps the OP should contact Support directly with the question? http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Suggestions are always appreciated. Is there anyway to essentially take my site offline for a day or two, to make all the necessary changes?

Of course! In privacy settings, make your site Private.
