Changing to a paid blog with different URL

Hi, I’m looking at changing my blog’s name, getting a URL that does not include WordPress in it, but staying on WordPress. For this rebranding, I’d like to know how to move my content or whether the blog will simply rebrand. I’d also like to know how to retain my subscribers and possibly redirect folks from the old URL. Thanks.

The easiest thing to do would be to upgrade to one of the paid plans. You’ll get a domain credit for free for one year (so you’ll be able to pick your domain name without .wordpress. in it), all your content and subscribers will stay where they are, and the old URL will automatically redirect to your new domain.

Thank you. Should I assume that if I pick a completely different sort of name that everything will redirect?

Yes, as long as you purchase an upgrade here, for your existing .wordpress.com site, the traffic will be automatically redirected to the new URL and your followers won’t even notice the change.
