changing to a private domain name

  Once I pay for an upgrade to a domain name without the wordpress in it, do I have to do anything else to allow people to go directly to my blog?

  Not necessarily, but you might want to set your primary domain via Store -> Domains in your blog’s Dashboard.

  Thank you. When I enter midwestmary.com it does go to that blog but still shows the wordpress in the menu bar.

  Yep, you’ll need to set your primary domain via Store -> Domains in your blog’s Dashboard.
