Changing URL name to already owned URL.

Hello – I have a primary blog, and I’d like to change its name to the name of another blog that I already have (essentially switching the URLs). I would simply delete the blog I have that has the name I want, but deletion means I can’t re-use that URL or that name.

I know that a simple name change will import all content, likes, followers, etc. so I want to go this route rather than an actual import/export (wherein I would lose all likes and followers and formatting). Is there a way to delete a blog without losing access to its name?

    Thanks in advance.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Can’t do that, changing URL to a one that already exists isn’t possible yet.

If you really do want to move, exporting/importing all content would indeed have to be done. A bit of a hassle, but I do have a good news! You won’t lose your followers/subscribers, they can be transferred over to the new blog by Staff.

Likes can’t be moved, unfortunately, so you’ll have to weigh your options.

Thanks so much – I guess I can survive without the likes, haha. How do I go about having staff transfer my followers?

  • You’re welcome!

What’s the other blog’s address? I’m tagging this thread for Staff assistance, they’ll be able to do the migration.

In the meantime, try moving the content and just to be on the safe side, don’t delete it from your previous blog yet.

I want to migrate the followers from mothermaya1 to mothermaya. The content is moved between the two, and is still on both blogs currently.

    Thanks so much!

  • I have migrated your subscribers and followers to your new site.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Hi rootjosh, Thanks so much – but it looks like they may not have migrated over. It’s still saying that mothermaya1 has 17 subscribers, and that mothermaya only has 1.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hmmm,

Not sure what happened there. But I have run the migration again. My apologies for any inconvenience.
