Changing user name

  Hi, I am so new to blogging, I had originally set up an account then deleted it because I was so overwhelmed on what to do so I ended up deleting my original account. I’m giving it a another try I wanted to use my original user name jayski317 but lost all my information related to that account that you needed to recover it. So what I’m asking since I have now created this account would you be able to find my original user name delete it so I can change within this account. I have been also adding myself to different users WordPress accounts that I get emails from. I would really appreciate if you could help me out with this situation. Thank you. Janine

  Hi there. I’m afraid what you’re asking is not possible. Firstly, an account cannot be deleted at all. You can try the Account Recovery Form, even if you don’t have the activation code. Just provide as much information as you can and an email address where staff can contact you to discuss what would be possible: http://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form

  Secondly, if someone registers a username, and then change it to another username, the old username (not the account) gets deleted permanently and no one can ever register it again. So there really is no way to obtain a username already belonging to another account.

  What you can do is to change your display name. You will still use your current username to log in and it will appear next to your picture in the forum, but if you write a blog post or a comment, your display name will appear next to it.   Did you subscribe to those blogs from your old account or this one? If from this account, you can cancel email subscriptions for individual blogs from the Blogs I Follow are of the Reader. You can also cancel all email notifications from your account settings.
