changing username

Hi. I apparently joined wordpress a few years ago, which I don’t remember doing. At the time, I signed up with a username attached to my e-mail address. Now that I intend to use wordpress again, I would very much like to change my username…but I apparently can’t ask the support team to change my username without signing up for a blog. I don’t want to sign up for a blog here, since I already have a blog on another site. Is there any way to contact the support team and/or get my username changed without signing up for a blog? I’d appreciate your responses. Thank you.

I’m confused about why you want a username without a blog. But in any case it’s easy. Sign up. Get the blog and the username. Don’t use the blog.

If I sign up for a blog (which I never intend to use), will the support team help with changing my username? According to the info on my profile page, “usernames don’t change.” Personally, I don’t think that’s a very user-friendly feature. But I’ve found that if you contact the support team/powers that be on other websites, they’ll usually change your username if you ask politely. I’m hoping that’s the case here. Does anyone have any different advice/knowledge/information?

Sorry. What I meant was, sign up with a different email address. That is the only way to get a different username.

There are very few things we cannot change, but usernames is one.
If you need a new username you will need to sign up with a new email address.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll try the nickname change. Part of the reason I don’t want to post a blog here is for this very reason. I prefer to blog on sites that are more user friendly, that allow a person to change their username without any hassle. I hope that the powers that be will take that into consideration.
