I am really struggling to sort in out and you currently cant see any of the widgets unless I change the background image.
Many thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Give this a try. It mimics the separate white backgrounds for the posts.
.widget { background-color: #FFFFFF; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px; padding-top: 5px; } -
Thank you so much!
You are a life saver!
Any other hints or tips to make my ite look a little slicker??

Same Q….not sure what to do with the info you provided. I cut & pasted it into the CSS editor but it didn’t change anything. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

The blog linked to your username is private, so we can’t see it. So,
a) Do you have the paid Custom Design upgrade?
b) If you do, what theme are you using? CSS is theme-specific: a solution that works for one theme won’t work for other themes. -
I believe I just changed the security setting so u can view my site.
I am using 2011 and I thought the upgrade was included.
Thx.

I am using 2011 and I thought the upgrade was included.
Included in what? There are no upgrades that we do not purchase. In this case you require an annually renewable custom design upgrade.
-
WordPress Value Bundle….I purchased this….according to the store I have the custom design upgrade
-
Thanks for the confirmation. Now we understand that you do have the custom design upgrade. Do you have the tools indicated?
Take advantage of your browser’s developer tools. Under Firefox, install Firebug. For Internet Explorer, install the Developer Toolbar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/#css-help
Note: When you alter a theme’s stylesheet, you only need to put in the Editor the modification/additions to the CSS, not the entire thing. Read this for more info:

I’m trying to upload a widget that uses external Javascript…does anyone know if wordpress supports that and how to make it happen?
thanks -

I would like to change the background of my widgets so they contrast with my background and standout better. I would also like to change the background color of my posts.
-
Ok I think Im being a little slow here too! I have the same problem only my blog only allows for widgets to appear at the bottom, which is fine only when I put them on there they totally blend in with my background. I was wondering if there’s any way I could put a background colour on them so they stand out. – I think this is what you’re all discussing! But firstly I have no idea where to put the CCS code thing!
Helppp please??

The only way to do this is with CSS editing and CSS editing is theme specific. If you have the custom design upgrade then as you are using Pink Touch, please start your own thread by clicking this link. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform

@kh32174, the site linked to your username, http://kevinhanrahan.wordpress.com/ , is using 2011. Is that the site you are talking about? The reason I ask is that you can’t get much more contrast than black text on a white background as far as widgets go.
Also, do you want the individual widgets to have a background, or do you want the sidebar to have a background? Same on the posts. Do you want each individual post to have a background, or the entire content area.
-
I would like the entire sidebar to have a background…… Also the entire content area to have a background. I want to get away from the white on all fronts…..I tried the black but didn’t like that.
-
@kh32174, you can take a look at this, but as you can see with this theme, there are other things that will need to be “fixed” such as the comment bubble image which has a white background. That image would have to be recreated with a transparent background (PNG). The colors I used are just placeholders and to give you an idea of what it would look like
#content { background-color: #EEDDAA; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-top: 20px; } #secondary { background-color: #EEDDAA; margin-right: 6%; padding-left: 25px; padding-right: 30px; width: 14%; } -
Thank you. Is the EEDDAA the color code? Is there a list of colors I can use? Shall I start another topic for the bubble image/ search engine and such?
-
Yes, that is the code. This is a good websafe hex color code chart: http://www.webmonkey.com/2010/02/color_charts/ .
Yes, let’s start a new thread on the other issues as even what we have done is a off topic from the original (different theme) than this thread.
