Changing widget positions and custom sidebar
-
My current WP Theme is Manifest, all of the widgets go to the bottom of the page, everything is center aligned. Unfortunately I have not found a theme that has the clean simple look this one achieves, but perhaps I need to change. I like center aligned posting but I really want to be able to add things to the sides no the bottom of the pages.
What I would like to achieve is a left aligned sidebar that has a list of movies with thumbnail pictures next to them. And all the usual archives, recent posts, on the right.
Thanks, any help is appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you want a clean two column theme with right hand positioned sidebars for widgets on every page then you will gave to search for one in the Themes Showcase. It’s a live demo site and the searchbox does have filters for features which you can use to narrow your search.

So there is no way to modify the coding to move the sidebars from the bottom to the sides on my current theme?

No we cannot edit templates or themes and change any functionality at all on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. This is a muituser blogging platform and that means all blogs wearing the Manifest theme are using the same underlying template. We bloggers cannot access the files and edit the template; only Staff can and every edit they make affects all blogs wearing the same theme.

I took a look at the CSS, and this can be done, but it would take a good bit of redesign of the entire theme to make it look right with a sidebar, and I’m not sure you would be happy with the results since it would basically turn it back into a standard two-column theme. The centered elements in the header area would end up looking unbalanced, even if they were spaced over to where they were centered above the whole wrapper (posts and sidebar area).
It would require CSS experience and the Custom Design upgrade.

G’morning. Hmmm that’s what I thought so I steered clear way from referring to CSS editing.
