Changing Width of my sidebars
-
Hi all
I’m completely new at CSS and considering upgrading if i can change the width of my homepage sidebars (based on feedback i’ve received) i will do so.
I’ve looked around the forum a little but cant anything about adjusting sidebars in ”The Morning After’ theme.
My blog is HERE
I’m trying to get everything so it wil be the same width as the primary sidebar (that’s the one on the far right).
My main issues are:
– The homepage Sidebar (the one with the twitter is really wide. Can i lower this?)
– I want to get rid of the secondary sidebar completely (the sidebar with Tags and advert on). I tried doing this in the normal wordpress widget area, but if i leave it blank it just adds a list of posts and categories for some reason)I really like my primary sidebar (far right) and that is present on all other pages other than the homepage. I want to have my home page looking like the rest of the pages, but with the Home Page sidebar present so i can add a few extra features that will only appear on my landing page.
I hope all this makes sense and any help would be great. I don’t want to upgrade to the CSR option until i know this can be done, and being such a noob at CSR means i need a few starting pointers :)
Thanks in advance

This is a little complex as the changes have to be targeted at the home page ONLY otherwise the rest of the pages will blow up. The problem is, if you get rid of the secondary and narrow the featured sidebar down to the width of the primary, then you have 260px of blank white space. You can widen the post area, but that puts that area at around 730px wide, which is really wider than you want for copy text. For easiest reading you typically want to keep things no more than 550-600px wide generally.
My suggestion would be to dump the “featured” widget area as well and put the twitter thing in the narrow primary sidebar and then you will have to recreate your purple graphic so that it fix in a 190px wide sidebar.
