Changing WordPress photo (banner)

  WordPress.com newbie here,

  I’m currently using a free theme on WordPress.com. However, I want to change my banner image to something different, can I do this without paying anything?

  How do I go about this?

  Yes. Provided you choose a theme with the custom image header feature http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/custom-header/ you can upload an image of the correct dimenaions here > Appearance > Header
