changing wordpress templates
-
Greetings,
I’m going to change the template I use for my WordPress blog, from Linen to Semantic. The help people at Semantic have given me some advice as to how to export the content from my existing blog into my new one.
I want to host this new blog on WordPress at the same address I am using for my current blog — that is, I want to replace my old blog with a new template design, while being able to export the content from that old blog into the new one.
How do I do all of that?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi!
It doesn’t look like Semantic is a theme at WordPress.com. Is it a self-hosted theme, perhaps this one?

If so, you’ll need to move your site to a self-hosted WordPress.org install to setup that theme. We have instructions on how to do that here:

Can you give those steps a try?

Regarding your current setup at WordPress.com, if you move to a self-hosted site, neither the Premium bundle nor the Domain Mapping for ascideas.org will be necessary. You would just need to login to your registrar’s account (looks like Network Solutions) where you originally registered the domain. Then, you can point your domain to your new host.
It sounds a bit complicated, but I promise it’s not! Just let me know if you get tripped up.
