changing/upgrading theme
-
I’m just a blogger for fun, so I don’t know how a lot of the technical things work. Figured it was time to install the update to my theme. Is there anything I need to do before hitting the button to start the change? Am I going to lose anything?
I’ve never backed up any of my blog content. Mostly because I don’t know how. Lazy me. If you have any suggestions for either of these issues, please let me know! Any information is appreciated. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi! I was worried about that as well. My experience has been that it just changes the theme (along with some formatting), but no information is lost. I have changed my themes a few times on blog and it has always been okay.

Themes are “skins”. You can quickly and easily change themes to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes and browse themes until you find one you like and click “activate” or type in the name of the theme you want to use and
click the “activate” link when it appears. After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.

Lovely! Thanks so much. I was thinking it probably wouldn’t be a big deal, but was a little scared. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.
