Chapters page ignores featured image and short codes

  I have my blog organized in “Book” format, with a static front page and links from the front page to each of my posts, all of which are found on a “chapters” page.

  I want my posts to be listed in chronological order, so I edited the chapters page and added the following short code:

  [display-posts order="ASC"]

  I also want a particular image to be displayed at the top of the chapters page, so I uploaded a Featured Image to the chapters page.

  Both the short code and the Featured Image are being ignored, and I think it is because I have designated the chapters page to be where posts are made, so a link to where the posts are has been inserted just below the title of the chapters page. It seems that the link is taken immediately and my short code and featured image additions to the chapters page are just ignored.

  Any ideas how to remedy this situation?
