Chargeback
-
I am trying to delete my account but wordpress will not let me. They say that I need to pay a chargeback fee to do anything. I disputed a payment that I did not authorize and now they won’t let me delete my account. How do I delete my account? I don’t think its particularly fair that I am being charged for getting a refund on a payment I did not authorize!

Hi @viktorathelstan, when you dispute a payment as fraudulent instead of canceling the service and getting an automatic refund, that initiates an investigation. That investigation costs money and ties up the account’s status; we can’t close it while an investigation is in progress. Are you able to cancel the chargeback so we can issue a normal refund instead?
This guide explains chargebacks, disputing payments, and getting a refund. Getting a RefundChargebacksCanceling a Dispute Getting a Refund WordPress.com is happy to issue refunds in the first 14 days after purchase for annual, two-year, and three-year plans, and 7 days for monthly plans, except domains, which must be canceled within 96 hours due to their unique registration process.
