Chargeback mistake?

    Hi, I’ve just inherited this WP site and on trying to make amendments, I’m getting the following red box appear stating: ‘Warning: One or more transactions linked to this site were refunded due to a contested charge. This may have happened because of a chargeback by the credit card holder or a PayPal investigation. Each contested charge carries a fine. To resolve the issue and re-enable posting, please pay for the chargeback fine.’ Looking at the purchases section and there appears to be two completed purchases, and no outstanding or disputed purchases.

    Reading the Support sections on Chargebacks, it states: ‘Chargebacks are a tool for fraud prevention, a way to reverse a charge that has been made by an unauthorized purchaser.’

    Might it be that someone fraudulently attempted to initiate a purchase but the system automatically prevented them, which leaves this Chargeback hanging over the account? If it is just an automated response to attempted fraudulent activity, please can WP clear the Chargeback so I can work on the site?

    If there is some other reason for the Chargeback, please can WP staff send me a private message to provide full details of the transaction, including date, time and bank / paypal account details relating to that transaction.
