Charged by wpchrg.com but I am not a customer
-
For some uncanny reason I need to post this to the public forum, because I searched for weeks but there apparently is not way to get in touch with any wordpress staff. This is pretty upsetting.
Maybe a forum member knows what to do about this? Here’s my message to wordpress:
Dear employee,
I have been trying to get in touch with you about this issue for a while, but so far I got no response. On March 21 a €13 charge by WPCHRG.COM appeared on the invoice of my credit card. After some research, it became clear that this was a charge from WordPress. But I am not a customer of yours, as far as I am concerned.
I have once made a login (@hanswesterbeek), but it was never activated. I have never used it, and I have never ordered anything. Above all, my invoice history in that account is totally empty as well. I have not ordered anything on WordPress.com, I have never used WordPress actually. Still, I found 13 EUR charged by WPCHRG.COM / 8772733049 / USA on my credit card.
Please correct this as soon as possible and remove any of my credit card information that you have from your systems, because I am not a customer of yours.

Automattic Inc. https://automattic.com/ owns WordPress.com and other products like Akismet and VaultPress, etc. so this could be a charge related to one of them. It’s important to know that each charge is sent to the registered email address for each username account, so if you have more than one username account that could be confusing you. If you have a wordpress.org account and a wordpress.com account that could be confusing you.
Are you referring to a specific website? If so then what is the exact URL starting with http:// of the site you refer to please?
To address any and all billing issues like this one we can click https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/ and we can also use this form (which works even when the main contact form is closed): http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?whywasi=charged
I will also type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. Oh no! I can see how that would be confusing and frustrating.
The easiest was to sort this out is to use our mystery charge finder here:
Let me know if you have any trouble.

Thank you @timethief! I am referring to an unexpected charge on my credit card. I do not have more than this username, which is connected to an unused (never activated) wordpress-website.
I am not familiar with any of the other Automattic products you mention. I hardly know WordPress, to be honest. -
Thanks staff-ozmodiar. I have tried the mystery charge finder, which is actually the page that referred me to this forum.
When I type the details of my charge into wpchrg.wordpress.com, it cannot find my transaction. I suspect there may be two reasons for this:
- The charge is unknown in your systems, making this hiccup even more worrisome, or
- It cannot find the charge because it was charged in EUR and I am only allowed to enter an amount in USD on wpchrg.
The only further solution that wpchrg offered me was to publicly post this stuff on the forum.

Hmmmm, that is odd.
I am sending you an email to the address associated with your WordPress.com account. Please let me know if you do not receive it.

Oh, it looks like you are already having an email conversation with one of my colleagues. Can you please reply to them with any additional questions?
