charging £84 instead of £11 to point to my own domaine name??

    I am being charged £84 instead of £11 to point to my own domain name??
    Can’t find a way round it, any ideas?

    Hi there,

    We have not sold domain mapping as a stand-alone £11 upgrade for more than two years. Accounts that already have one active can keep on renewing it at that price, but for new purchases a domain mapping upgrade can only be added as part of one of our paid plans.

    If you start by adding a domain at My Site ->Domains, the Premium Plan will automatically be added, but you can also use the cheaper Personal Plan instead if you prefer. To do this, first add the plan at My Site ->Plans, and then add the domain mapping afterwards.

    Hi there,

    No problem! pilot229574310.life is attached to lifepilot229574310.wordpress.com as a custom domain. However, it won’t be displayed in your browser’s address bar (instead of the free address) until it has been set as the primary domain for the site. This documentation explains the steps for doing that:

    I think I’ve got it, I just don’t understand why I had to pay £84 for the 12 months + £11 for the domaine mapping to link it to my already purchased domaine name? I thought it was all part of the 12 mth plan. Can you clarify please?

    Hi Caroline,

    I see what’s going on here, your site lifepilot229574310.wordpress.com, has two domains associated with it: pilot229574310.life and lifepilot.co.uk. The domain pilot229574310.life is registered with WordPress.com and is linked to your WordPress.com Premium Plan (£84). The domain mapping for lifepilot.co.uk was purchased as an additional mapping for £11.

    Public records show the domain, `lifepilot.co.uk was registered at GoDaddy in 2016. If you purchased this domain, to use it with your WordPress.com site update the name servers over at GoDaddy by following this guide:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#2-ask-your-domain-provider-to-update-your-dns-settings

    If you have not bought that domain outside of WordPress.com let us know and we can refund the £11 payment for the additional domain. This will allow you to purchase a new domain, or continue to use pilot229574310.life as your primary domain.
