Charity based organisation website

Hi, and thank you for your help!
I have managed a website for our motorcyclists’ organisation for many years, using Heart Internet for web hosting and domain renewal, and clunky old Contribute software to create and update the site.
The benefits are the low cost. The negatives are that I rarely update the site as can’t do it on my phone, and the site looks poor.
I’d be happy to transfer over to WordPress if I could set up an advert free site using the existing domain – but I’m hopelessly lost in reading the links here. Simple answers for an older person please! Many thanksThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
Yes, you can do this. The personal plan will be the most affordable option for the project. It is $60/year and it includes all the support you need from us and the hosting. Check it out at https://wordpress.com/pricing/
We can remove ads on the personal option and you can connect the custom domain. There’s 2 ways to connect a domain to WordPress.com. Both are included with that personal plan. There’s not a right or wrong option, and neither is permanent, so don’t fret over it too much.
1. Mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
2. Transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/I’d suggest setting up the site on a free subdomain from us. Those look like yoursite.wordpress.com instead of yoursite.com. You can hide it from the internet and keep it under wraps until it is ready. That’s just a simple privacy setting. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ Once the site is ready to go, you’ll connect the domain and be on your way.
We have a nifty learning tutorial that is helpful with learning the platform. Check it out at https://learn.wordpress.com/
Write back to me here with any other questions :)
