Chat Box and Blog Post Subscription

Firstly, I am completely aware this isn’t the place to submit requests for features no matter how compelling. Secondly, these two features have been discussed to death, came back to life and buried a few more times. I am posting here to get an idea of how others feel about these being implemented, again!
I am very happy the rate of progress the WordPress Team is going with the new features we’re getting from time to time. I cannot help but pray, hope, wish (the whole works) that some day soon, WordPress.com themes get the single-most desired update and that’s to include an Email Notification checkbox. We have discussed this enough and many have agreed that Feedburner isn’t an effective solution especially readers who only read blogs that receive links for by email.
Now, re Chat Box. I am aware WP.com does not allow third party Chat Box that are Java-, Flash, iFrame-based. Not question there regarding security risks. Has the team thought of offering a Chat/Shout Box that is developed by WP.com for WP.com themes or is there no way it can be done without using Java/Flash/iFrame? In my circle of very active social bloggers, one of a number of reasons they find Blogger.com so attractive is possibility of running any one of the many available free ShoutBoxes. The number of people who use them here in Asia is staggering. These are category of young readers who do not like to submit comments the way blogs are intended.

There must be a troll in here. It is all over the threads. Someone put a modlook tag on one of them, so perhaps it will be looked into.

There seems to be someone (don’t know who it is) that seems to be doing that today. Hopefully staff will figure out who it is and give them a little talking to.
I’ve tagged this thread modlook so someone from staff will look at it.

Maybe it’s just someone interested in commodifying the chat feature once it’s implemented?
