  I do not seem to have the option of asking or DM the chat line anymore. I can only ask questions to the community forum.

  Hi there, recent changes in the way the WordPress.com support system works have brought more site owners to the Community forums for support. However, if you have a paid WordPress.com upgrade that includes Live Chat support, you should be able to access that when posting at https://wordpress.com/help/contact

  Is it possible that your site had an upgrade (Premium and above) that expired?

  @justjennifer Do you have any links documenting said change in the support system? This is the first time I’m hearing about it and I’d like to read up on them…

  Hi @bookstooge maybe I should have phrased that differently. Posting to the Public Forums is now an option for folks who have a paid upgrade on their WordPress.com site. This just eliminates the need to first navigate to the forums and then open a new forum topic, which technically one can still do.

  To access this option, click on the new-ish ? that appears next to your gravatar image in the top banner, which opens a pop-up window. Then click the “Still need help?” button at the bottom. That will bring you to the next screen where you can see your available support options under your current plan.

  Here’s what I see in my dashboard:

  

  Clicking Public Forums will open a posting box where you can add your question. Free site owners will see the posting box instead of these options.

  Sorry about the animation. It should have repeated itself a couple of times. If you missed the first screen, you’ll need to refresh the forum thread. 🤦‍♀️
